EML GT 2001 Versus EZS Munro.

Beitragvon Stefano63 » 15. Mai 2011 21:33

Hi guys,
unfortunately my RT1100 EML GT2001 was stolen during a trip to Sicily. :smt013

I bought a RT1150 EZS Munro (photo) who I will take from dealer in early June.

Strengths and weaknesses compared to the EML?

The Munro looks better.

Saw one in matt black/ grey last Sunday on a 1200 GS. Just awesome in these colours.

Sorry to hear, about your outfit being stolen in Sicily.

Thanks Richards,

Can I say "fucking Italian Mafia?

Maybe Don Vito Corlene use my Sidecar now.

EZS also seems nice, it would be nice to know if there are better things than EML, for example during heavy rain, EML had infiltration of water.

Best regards, Stefano.

and very sad to hear about having your other rig stolen!
more luck with this one, and don't go to Sicily....

Thanks for your good wishes Yachtie, never again in Sicily or in southern Italy with the Sidecar.

My RT - EML was the only example in Italy, I don't know what they whant to do with my bike.

If someone sees in Internet an RT - EML blue with uncertain origin, notify me.

As soon as possible I write a report with the difference between the two models.

Best regards, Stefano.

You mean, more pics of the outfit showed in the first pic in this topic, don’t you?

Prego.

The seat of the Munro is 820 mm, which is supposed to have the possibility to be extended to 860 mm, but I’ve never seen that. The volume of the luggage space is 380 liters.

The additional fuel tank, as shown by Julian, is 19 liters. As you might have understood we both like the Munro.

An advantage is also the double-layered “plastic” parts. Such as the part that holds the windscreen, the trunk latch and the fender. Both sides have a smooth surface. (Well, they should).

Here a pic of the outfit I saw last Sunday.

I didn’t want to make a joke about “an Italian job”, but since you started, I hope the thieves will find the head of their favorite horse in bed.

Can you write a little bit in “Eye Tell Yun” (Iyetalian? ).

Thanks guys, of course send photos, I like very much, now I’m a EZS fun.

In the ZS website, there are two measures for the seats f Munro, a 900 mm and 820 mm.

Which one is correct?

How width is the GS of the picture?

Because in Italy the sidecar can’t have a width more than two meters, the RT is 1.98 meters wide, it’s near the limit.

The thieves are in my thoughts every day, and are not good thoughts.

Best regards, Stefano.

Since it’s a Dutch sidecar and our legislation says sidecars after 1995 are not allowed to be wider than 2.00 meters, I assume it’s narrower.

Furthermore we have some roads, that are not allowed for vehicles over 2.00 wide.

A friend and me once checked the width of our EML outfits. A Goldwing and a Pan European. They were both approx. 1.985 measured on the height of the mirrors, if I remember correctly.

So I think, you’re OK.

Ciao Yachtie,
this is a translation in english.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I'm back for a second time to make a trip to Germany to buy a sidecar.

I never thought to repeat this experience, I expected to end my Sidecar experience with the RT1100, but this dream finish in Palermo.

Me and my friend Massimo flight from Bologna and we arrived at the dealership BMW Krefel Fassbender, here Volker give to me a nice RT1150 with the Dutch EZS sidecar.

We leave Düsseldorf quickly, and I immediately discover that I forgot my motorcycle jacket, so I use the jacket of Massimo, two sizes too big and tend to lose bits and color.

The ride is short, we have the navigator and the map, but we lose the right way two times.

We discover that the front suspension twisted too much when takes the rails of the tramway, this is undoubtedly the shock absorber of the steering, too soft, in EML the defect was even more pronounced, I had it solved by mounting the steering damper of a Mercedes 190 D,I think that I should do the same thing.

After a good night's sleep, we start for the new adventure, and in turn we feel the experience of pilot or passenger.

I discover also the maximum speed of the Side, but when I get to 160 km / k speedometer (146 marked by GPS) Massimo began to show signs of nervousness, I don't understand why.

The hood is low for an adult person and not very waterproof, I have ask to EZS another one, 8 cm higher.

The bike is like a clock, and it only takes gasoline (15Km / L the average) engine and transmission are better than the RT1100, the engine minimum is just a little too low, and sometimes also for the weight it's easy fails the start.

Also the brakes are better, there is also the ABS.

The front suspension works better, are softer than EML, we feel less potholes, and also noise and squeaks of the Side body.

But sometimes it's easy to touch knees into the Side body, the windscrean is lower than EML get more air on the passenger's helmet, creating a bit of noise if you are not low on the seat.

So the protection nell'EML was higher, but the defect was that it was also warmer when the sun beats, there are no safety belts, other expenses to be incurred.

No infiltration of rain, not a drop of water filtered through the closed door, problem which recently afflicted my EML.

The luggage is more spacious, but in the EML was more convenient placement of the luggage, because you open it from the top.

Beautiful the aluminum wheels, which also carry tires bigger than EML.

Yes Richard,
in EZS are very kind and fast, they write:

..............the hood with the double bar is available from stock. It costs, incl frame, € 394.84 It is a better quality material then the hood you have now as this will stay black and not turn into green. With the 2 zippers on the side (to be opened for fresh air intake) will cost extra € 120,-
The extra heigth in the sidecar is 5cm. If you request more room, please advise and we will quote you a special hood...........

So I ask a hood, 8 Cm higher .

Now I wait pictures and price, because I have request also the two bars divisible in two parts each, for put them better into the boot.

Ciao, Stefano.
